Subject: PhD Position, Polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PE-FCs), Brazil
The Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing Laboratory (LMACC) at
the Instituto de Ciências Matemáticas e de Computação (ICMC) – São
Paulo University in Brazil invites outstanding candidates to apply for
a Ph. D. position to develop mathematical/algorithmic approaches for
polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PE-FCs) modeling. This project will
involve modeling of the process, a multiphase flow in a porous medium
and computer implementation of numerical methods. The successful
candidate will also interact with LMACC scientists and with computer
scientists at ICMC on topics related to fluid flow simulation and
industrial applications.
The successful applicant will work in the Applied Mathematics and
Statistics department, which has strong programs in scientific
computing, rheology and non- Newtonian flows. Candidates should be
familiar with a high level computing language and have some background
in one or more of the following: Numerical Analysis, Applied
Mathematics, CFD, Numerical Linear Algebra, Finite Elements.
Experience with Comsol Multiphysics, parallel toolkits such as PETSc,
or large- scale computation is a plus. The University if São Paulo
offers grants for travel and living expenses.
