В 2000 году появился такой архив и для химиков
http://www.chemweb.com/preprint Хотя пока ему далеко до arXiv.org, там ещё и 600 статей нет (в arXiv.org уже около 230 тыс, но тот, правда, существует аж с 1991 года)
Впрочем, учитывая то, с какой скоростью химики продуцируют свои статьи, будем надеяться, что он быстро наберёт популярность.

http://www.ChemWeb.com . All users of the CPS need to be ChemWeb members, but registration is quick, easy and free of charge. Registration is available on the CPS homepage by clicking on ’Join’.
The CPS is the first preprint server for chemistry and was developed by closely following the arXiv archives
http://arXiv.org/ - which cover physics and related disciplines. The CPS is registered as a compliant data provider for the Open Archives Initiative (OAI)

Submission to the CPS is open to all and can include prepared articles, works in progress or proceedings from scientific conferences. It is also easy to browse the CPS to gain access to papers which are of particular interest. Each preprint also forms its own online discussion group and authors may upload any number of supporting files alongside the main article. All preprints have their own unique ID which is used to cite the article as well as access the preprint itself.
